Fender PD-500 -- Best Price; Great Review

It was once the case that portable all-in-one PA systems were exclusively for speaking arrangements or smaller performances. Such is not the case anymore. The industry-wide trend of packing more function into less space has seen to that.

It's now fully doable to bring your vocals and mix to the crowd and not be buried under the attack of the band. Notably so because it won't require a large and heavy power mixer, a pair of monster speaker cabs and paraphernalia. With Fender's Passport Deluxe PD-500 Portable PA, you've got enough crank to be the equal of the guitars, drums and whatever else.

As the name suggests, the Fender PD-500 can boom with the best of them with a 500 watt class D stereo power amp. A spacious hall or small gymnasium isn't out of the question when you can bring that kind of juice. The mixer itself sports 8 channels, selectable digital effects and Fender Feedback Killer ™ technology that squashes roasted signals. +48 volt phantom power is there if condensers are your mics of choice. The panel is laid out cleanly for user-friendly operation and external XLR outs are standard for auxiliary audio.

The PD-500 is further empowered with two speaker cabinets that house Neo-Precision Celestion neodymium speakers. The design is with two 8" woofers sitting above and below a titanium compression driver and horn. The sound they produce is wholly vibrant with considerable clarity and projection. Each cab is 24" in height and conveniently latches onto either side of the power mixer console. This creates a single portable component that can be picked up by means of a moulded handle atop the console.

At a mere 53 lbs between the 3 pieces, the Fender PD-500 is lightweight. In fact, you'll be impressed with how much punch such a lightweight combo unit can put out. Add to that its quality craftsmanship and tested durability and you may have found your perfect PA.
